The sixteen people who make up this village bank loan will use their portion of the loan for different purposes so it can improve the standard of living of their families.
Mrs. Sarun is the village bank president and has been selected by the other members. She is a farmer who owns a 3-hectare plot of land where she can grow both rice and watermelon to sell to support her family. She has some problems in the crop fields because her fields have infertile soil, so, to improve production, Mrs. Sarun is asking for a loan to buy fertilizer. With the rest of the loan she is going to buy two piglets and plow a field for growing watermelon.
Her husband, Mr. Sin, owns a horse cart. This couple supports seven children, two of whom are seamstresses in garment factories, while the other three are studying in local public school, and the others are too young to work or study.
